Teachers: Jack Pillemer (English) jackpil@013.net Peter L Drench (History & Social Science) pdrench@andover.edu
Dear Students,
You will be participating in an email project which is aimed to serve many different functions. Hopefully, at the end of it you will feel that it has been productive for you.
You will be writing a minimum of 6 letters (more if you wish) with your Israeli (Boyar School - Jerusalem)/ American (Phillips Academy - Andover) email partner over a period of approximately 2 months starting in the last week of September 2008. Try to write at least one a week.
Each letter you write to your e-mail partner should relate to the issues and questions listed below, anything you feel like discussing and, of course, anything that was mentioned in the previous letters.
Some tips to make this project work smoothly and to make it particularly beneficial.
- Make sure you write/answer your e-mail at least once a week.
- If you are not getting a response, inform your teacher.
- Express your real thoughts and feelings and do not be judgmental.
- Ask questions. Lots! Be curious. Try to learn and understand.
- Write as accurately as you can. Don't allow yourself to fall into chat/email-type style. It is especially important for Israeli students to write and to read well-written English.
Enjoy!
